Head Shoulders Knees and Toes

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

“Head Shoulders Knees and Toes” song has only been around since the 1950s – but its tune dates back to a traditional folk song from 1883! This song is a real favorite, and is a great way to teach body parts and co-ordination to the children’s, Sing the words to the song slowly and clearly, encouraging children to touch the different parts of their body in time to the words.

It is absolutely great for helping kids identify and label parts of the body. It’s also a fun way to develop listening skills, gross motor skills and coordination. Face your toddler, either sitting or standing together. Put both hands on each body part as you sing about it. You can use your own body, your toddler’s, or go back and forth. Start off slowly and then as your little one gets the hang of it, speed up a bit.

“Head Shoulders Knees and Toes” Lyrics

Head shoulders knees and toes,
Knees and toes.
Head shoulders knees and toes,
Knees and toes.
And eyes and ears,
And mouth and nose.
Head shoulders knees and toes,
Knees and toes.

Feet and tummies arms and chins,
Arms and chins.
Feet and tummies arms and chins,
Arms and chins.
And eyes and ears,
And mouth and shins.
Feet and tummies arms and chins,
Arms and chins.

Hands and fingers legs and lips,
Legs and lips.
Hands and fingers legs and lips,
Legs and lips.
And eyes and ears,
And mouth and hips.
Hands and fingers legs and lips,
Legs and lips.
